In Renney We Trust

Daniel Sallows at the Bleacher Report gives Coach Tom Renney praise for keeping the team together during his 2 plus seasons with the Blue Shirts...

"There's still hope for the New Yorks Rangers this season—despite the mediocre offense, inconsistent play, and persistent trade rumors.

That hope lies ultimately with the players, who are certainly good enough to make a run to the top of the standings. But behind the Blueshirts stands their motivational, well-spoken coach, Tom Renney..."

...Renney has taken some major criticism this year for the first time as head coach of the Rangers. I agree with a lot of the criticism, especially the handling of Nigel Dawes, but you can't ignore what he's done for this team since becoming head coach. The entire culture has changed. The Rangers are no longer a country club for aging veterans. He has held players responsible for bad play by benching them and has guided the Rangers to two straight seasons in the playoffs including last years ride to the second round. I think Renney deserves to be the Rangers head coach for the rest of the season and at least the beginning of next year even if they don't make the playoffs this year.
