OT Magic

The New York Rangers (20-15-4) defeated the Montreal Canadiens (19-13-7) last night by a score of 4-3 in OT. Brendan Shanahan scored 66 seconds into overtime to give the Rangers the victory, extending their winning streak to three games. Chris Drury tied the game with 5:51 left in regulation when he found a loose puck at the top of the crease and flipped it over a prone Christobal Huet. Dan Girardi, who assisted on Shanahan's goal, and Jaromir Jagr also scored for the Rangers, who got 18 saves from Henrik Lundqvist. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...looks like the Rangers have righted the ship. Its great to see them come from behind in 2 of the last 3 games.

...while Gomez has been in a groove for the past month, it finally looks like Drury might be turning a corner. I love when he scores goals around the net. Also his saucer pass to Shanahan in OT was a thing of beauty. He also went 15 of 21 in the faceoff circle.

...great quote by Drury after the game regarding the crowd, "I think the whole game felt like a playoff game, how the crowd was during the anthems and all. It was exciting." Much better than Buffalo huh Chris.

...obviously, there have been lots of rumors floating around regarding the Rangers and their need for an offensive defensman. Do they really need one? Ranger defenseman have 24 goals and 43 assists so far this season. Not sure how that compares to other teams, but that seems like a lot of offense to me.

...speaking of defenseman scoring, another goal by Girardi last night his 7th of the season. I didn't think he'd have 7 goals all season. He also made an outstanding play at the Rangers blueline directly leading to Shanahan's overtime winner.

...big trip to Western Canada coming up this week I'd be happy getting 2 out of 3.

...Happy New Year!!!!
