Ranger vs. Penguins Preview

Tonight, the New York Rangers (16-13-3) host the Pittsburgh Penguins (16-14-2). The Rangers are 2-1-0 this season against the Penguins, winning 4-2 at MSG on Nov. 8. New York is 6-1-1 in its last eight home games versus Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh rebounded from consecutive losses by holding on for a 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Captain Jaromir Jagr has only one assist in his last six games. He has seven goals in 32 games this season after he had 14 at this point in 2006-07. For a full preview go to Yahoo! Sports.

...we finally have our top two centers playing on the top two lines, Dawes playing on the second line, and Malik and Hossa sitting in the press box. The only thing missing is a banged up Avery, but I'm very happy with the lineup tonight.

...it is imperative that the Rangers score the first goal tonight. The team's psyche is so fragile right now that an early goal will most likely send this team into a tailspin similar to last game.

...Marc-Andre Fleury has been sidelined with a sprained ankle, so Dany Sabourin figures to make his fifth straight start tonight and his first against the Rangers. We need to fire pucks at this kid early and often.

...at this point I don't care that Crosby and Malkin are in town because we have too much going on with our team to worry about the opponent. If the Rangers can get their house in order, there isn't a team in the Eastern Conference, minus the Senators, who scare me.
