Gomez Gets All-Star Nod

The NHL announced the Eastern Conference All-Star roster today and Scott Gomez was the lone Ranger representative. Here's Sam Weinman's take on this over at The Rangers Report...

"So much for the awkward scenario of Henrik Lundqvist being announced as an All-Star the day after one of the worst games of his career.

Instead, Scott Gomez, who leads the Rangers with 40 points, will represent the Rangers in Atlanta later this month..."

...wow, a month ago Lundqvist was being mentioned as a potential league MVP now he can't even make the All-Star team.

...not only has Lundqvist played himself out of an All-Star spot, he is playing himself out of a long and lucrative contract.

...oh yeah, congrates to Gomez. Lundqvist not making the team is actually bigger news than Gomez making the team.

Rozsival probably deserves a spot because the Eastern Conference d-men are pretty weak. Plus he is tied for the lead in goals for d-men. However, the Rangers don't deserve 2 players on the All-Star team.

That's the problem with allowing every team to have a representative in the All-star game. A couple of players always get screwed.
