Rangers vs. Calgary Preview

Tonight the New York Rangers (20-15-4) visit the Calgary Flames (19-14-7) in the first game of their three game Western Canada road trip. The Rangers have not visited Calgary since 2002. The Rangers have won six of the last nine meetings with the Flames. The Rangers won 2-1 on Nov. 14, 2002 in their last trip to Calgary. The Flames look to close out their homestand with a 3-0 record. After beating defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim 5-3 on Saturday, the Flames recorded their first win of the season over Vancouver on Monday, 2-1. Though he's allowed a total of four goals on the homestand, Miikka Kiprusoff is 0-3-0 with a 3.34 goals-against average against the Rangers. For a full preview go to Yahoo! Sports.

...the Rangers are in a nice little groove right now. While I'm sure most of the players aren't excited about three games in four nights in Western Canada, these long road trips can actually be beneficial as it can bring the players closer together.

...it will be good to see our old friend Mike Keenan tonight. While I'm sure no one was happy with the way he left, you can't complain about someone who brought us the Stanley Cup.

...I haven't really followed the Flames much this season. I know they started off very slow, but they just went 8-1-4 in the month of December so it looks like Keenan has them headed in the right direction. Oh yeah and Jarome Iginla has 27 goals and 26 assists so far this season. I think its safe to say we need to stop him tonight.

...I'm happy to report that the Rangers have found their offense during their three game winning streak with Jagr, Gomez and Drury leading the way.

...I'd like to see Lundqvist step it up a notch on this road trip. While he hasn't been bad, I feel that he hasn't played nearly as well as he did earlier in the season.

...I'll have updates throughout the day.
