'Sometimes, You Just Want to Kick Him'

Those were the words uttered by Calgary Flames Craig Conroy regarding former Los Angeles Kings teammate and current Ranger Sean Avery as reported by Jean Lefebvre at Inside the Flames...

"...Despite the presence of Jagr, not to mention Scott Gomez, Henrik Lundqvist, Brendan Shanahan and ex-Flame Chris Drury, much of the chatter this morning was about world-class pest Sean Avery, which means all his attention-seeking tactics work like a charm.

'He's got a good publicist,' quipped Flames centre Craig Conroy, a former Avery teammate in Los Angeles. 'Himself.'

Conroy had mostly complimentary things to say about Avery, though he did admit: 'Sometimes, you just want to kick him.'..."

...great stuff by Conroy on Avery. Its great to see Western Conference teams, who only see the Rangers once every three years, talk about and report about Avery being a pest.

Sean Avery, the most hated player in the league. The kind of guy you love to have on your team, but hate to play against. Matthew Barnaby, Esa Tikkanen, Rick Tocchet and Ken Linseman come to mind. Agitators. Always yapping. Won't back down. They get inside their opponents' heads, cause a major distraction and take the opposition off their game. An invaluble commodity to a team. I love Avery, he's my favorite player. I hope the Rangers sign him to a long-term deal. He's interesting to watch, always brings excitement. I'd sure hate to play against him...

I obsolutely agree. Its amazing how much better the Rangers are with him in the lineup. Avery is almost like a security blanket with this team.
