Dubinsky Blossoms

John Dellapina has a nice piece on Brandon Dubinsky in The Daily News today...

"Enter Brandon Dubinsky, the initially overlooked 2004 draft pick who is emerging as the best Rangers-drafted and Rangers-developed forward since Mike York or Marc Savard...

...In truth, though, Dubinsky hardly was the player the Rangers envisioned being a franchise cornerstone coming out of that draft. Chosen with the 60th pick - a selection acquired from Phoenix - Dubinsky was the last of the six-pack the Rangers collected in those first two rounds on June 26, 2004...

... And though his career has been on an upward slope since the day he was drafted, Dubinsky has really taken off in recent weeks. Since being reunited with Jaromir Jagr six games ago - with Sean Avery completing their strong-on-the-puck trio - Dubinsky has four goals and four assists.

Not only has Dubinsky been the perfect middle man for Avery and Jagr - they've combined for 11 goals and 13 assists together going into this afternoon's Garden game with the Flyers - he also is emerging as the physical complement to fellow Rangers centermen Scott Gomez and Chris Drury. And he's still two months shy of his 22nd birthday."

...great read. Like I said a few days ago. I have full man crush on this kid. He gets better and better with every game.

...I actually had a few questions about Dubinsky when he first came up. He looked like he couldn't keep up with the big boys and almost looked out of place. But you have to give him and the Rangers organization credit for sticking with it. Who knows where this team would be without their 21-year-old rookie.
