If the Playoffs Started Today...

ESPN.com reports that if the season ended today the #6 Rangers would play the #3 Hurricanes...

...this is a pretty useless report as the standings have changed everyday for the last month and figure to change until the last day of the season. I'd like to see how long ESPN updates this feature until they finally get tired of switching the teams and stop.

...as far as the matchup goes, the Rangers and Canes split the season series 2-2, but I'm pretty sure most Ranger fans would sign up for the #6 seed to face the Hurricanes rather then getting the #4 or #5 seed and play Pittsburgh or New Jersey. The #6 seed worked well for us last year, so why not this year.

...actually the #6 seed might be better than the #1 or #2 seed. Who would you rather play in the first round, Carolina or one of these teams: Flyers, Bruins or Sabres. Me, I'd rather the Hurricanes.
