Line Changes Spark Run

The Daily News' John Dellapina reports on the Rangers success since Tom Renney shuffled his lines on February 23rd...

"Looking for the turning point in the Rangers' season? Game-by-game results say Jan. 20, as the Rangers are 15-4-3 since...

... But how about Feb. 23? The Rangers returned from a three-day break in the schedule to take on the Sabres in Buffalo. That would be the evening Renney sent out a lineup with three new forward line combinations and came away with a 4-3 victory.

And ever since, if it hasn't been the Sean Avery-Brandon Dubinsky-Jaromir Jagr line playing power keep-away, it has been snipers Brendan Shanahan and Nigel Dawes finishing what Scott Gomez starts or it has been the Martin Straka-Chris Drury-Ryan Callahan trio controlling pace with its speed and quickness...

... Such diversity should make the Rangers a difficult opponent come the playoffs."

...it was a long painful process for Rangers fans while Renney tried to figure out line combinations that would click. Thankfully, he was able to come up with them just in the nick of time.
