Newsday: Avery Looking for $2.5 Million Per

Arthur Staple at Newsday reports...

"Avery, who is believed to be seeking a multi-year deal worth more than $2.5-million a season, said he's been playing his best hockey "probably since I've been in the league" over the last 11 games, during which time he has seven goals and three assists"

...if this number is true, I'm ready to put the entire blame on Sather. Avery is currently on a one-year $1.9 million contract and certainly deserves a $600,000 raise per year. Avery is quoted as saying they are "far apart." What could Sather be offering that is so far apart?

...not sure if Sather realizes this, but the Rangers have gone 42-17-11 with Avery in the line-up since acquiring him last year. That's a winning percentage of .600. Nah, that's not good enough for a $600,000 raise.

...Maybe the hold up is with the length of the contract. Which in my opinion should be three or four years max.

I have been saying all year to lock Avery up, and Sather wont pay him 2.5 mil, What a joke.....The Rangers are paying Mara 3mil this year and Malik 2.5 mil....Even Kasparatis has a 3mil hit to the Cap this year. Just pay Avery 2.5-3 mil for 3-4 years per.....GET THIS DONE!!!
