No Rest for the Weary

John Dellapina at The Blueshirts Blog reports that with the Rangers fighting for playoff position Tom Renney doesn't plan on resting his players...

"The consensus around the Rangers’ dressing room today was that, while resting certain players for the playoffs can be an effective strategy, it doesn’t yet apply in their case...

...While the Rangers are close to nailing down a playoff spot, they have yet to do so. And as they sit sixth in the conference, merely earning home-ice advantage for the first round remains a goal that is far from assured.

Bottom line: Don’t look for Renney to do much tinkering with the lineup or cutting back on key players’ ice time for at least another week."

...with the way the Rangers schedule has been setup the last month and a half the players have had a lot of days off in between games and should ready to go come playoff time.

...plus we all saw with the New York Giants that playing your starters all the way to the end of the regular season, isn't always a bad thing. There's a lot to be said for having momentum going into the playoffs rather than rested players.
