Avery A Cheater?

Jason Kay at The Hockey News describes Sean Avery's screening of Martin Brodeur last night...

"Our knee-jerk reactions to Sean Avery’s ludicrous impression of Martin Brodeur’s windshield wipers were:

a) you can’t do that
b) should be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty
c) man, you can’t do that!

The problem is, up until Sunday night, you could. To our knowledge, there is nothing in the NHL rulebook that prohibits such an act, however goofy it looks; however unscrupulous it may feel.

And that’s where Avery deserves some credit.

Yes, really."

...obviously the refs did the right thing by not penalizing Avery as his actions were not a penalty. But I would like the NHL to outlaw that type of screening, because I'd hate to see teams starting to implement that kind of tactic on the power play.

Brodeur must have nightmares about Avery. It is one thing to have a guy hound the hell out of you and that is it...it is another for the guy who is hounding the hell out of you scoring a goal a game on you.
