Redemption

Last night the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils by a score of 5-3 to take a 3-1 lead in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...Marc Staal is an absolute beast. Three nights after having the puck deflect off his skate to lose the game in OT, he comes back with probably his best performance as a Ranger including scoring the game winner with three minutes left. Not many players, especially rookies, could come back from that, but Staal is so mature and even-keeled it didn't even faze him.

...I've seen a lot of games in my time, but that could have been the worst officiated game in the history of the NHL. Nothing was called on the Devils, including slashing the stick out of Lundqvist's hands (directly leading to the tying goal) and three straight cross checks to Hollweg's back in the first period. Appalling. Actually, I've got to give them credit for calling Brodeur on a dive, although on the same play Sjostrom was high sticked in the face drawing blood and he got a penalty!!!!

...Drury and Gomez received some criticism this year for not living up to their contracts during the regular season, but I've said it before, we didn't bring them in for the regular season, we brought them in for the playoffs. And last night they lived up to their contracts. The two combined for three goals and one assist. Gomez now has two goals and five assists in the four games.

...I thought Lundqvist was a little shaky last night. The second goal had to be stopped and he seemed to be fighting the puck a bit. But we won, so who cares. He's still out-playing Brodeur.

...let's end this on Friday.

Don't forget the non-call on Gomez being taken down in the middle of the ice during the 4 on 4. He had a clear shot at a breakaway.

Terrible officiating.
