Two Down, Two To Go

Last night the New York Rangers defeated the New Jersey Devils by a score of 2-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up. For a full recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...now that was a playoff game. Physical play after every whistle, lots of intensity and of course the Rangers win.

...is it me or was Gomez really enjoying himself last night. I loved the "oooooo I'm real scared" look Gomez gave Langenbrunner after their confrontation. Then Gomez hits Langenbrunner with the "Why don't you have another one" while miming drinking a beer, when they were in the penalty box. Oh yeah and he had another assist, giving him four in the first two games.

...I know the refs were atrocious for the Devils at the end of the game. But you know what? You make your own brakes. The Devils did absolutely nothing offensively for the first 58 minutes of the game and they're going to blame the refs for a couple bad calls in the final minute and a half. Get over it. The Rangers got some bad calls too, including when Parise ran into Backman's stick and Backman was given a four minute high sticking penalty.

...Shanahan, once again, proves his worth in the playoffs. When the Devils started to get physical with the Rangers he was the first one in every scuffle showing the rest of the team that we won't be pushed around.

...hey Sather, you should have signed Avery months ago because you're going to be paying through the nose if he keeps this up.

...a bit of a lucky goal by Jagr but he put the puck where it needed to be to score.

...the best part of the game for me was Brodeur getting the Maaaaaaarty chant in his own building. Ouch.

That Maaarrrttttyyy chant was unbelievable. Funny that no one is saying 70% Devs fans last night.

What a turnaround for Backman...he has been solid these past two games.

Hopefully Wed night will be the last time we see the Devs for a while.

Go Rangers.
