Derby Day Headlines

Here are today's Ranger headlines...

Lynn Zinser at the New York Times says we've seen the first signs of Penguins frustration..."So the sight of Penguins center Evgeni Malkin kicking the skates out from two Rangers players in the final minute, starting the end-of-game fireworks and earning a 10-minute misconduct, was the first glimpse at any frustration. The Rangers stifled every bit of the Penguins’ potent offense — including the red-hot Malkin — in a 3-0 victory at Madison Square Garden."

At the Daily News, John Dellapina says the Rangers are taking their momentum the road..."The Rangers, however, will bring renewed confidence into Game 5. After losing three close games to begin the series, they finally proved they could prevail in the pivotal moments against a hot team that was on a confidence-fueled roll."

Larry Brooks at the New York Post feels the Rangers need the referees to let them play..."It is, however, a fact that the Blueshirts must be allowed to knock down Sidney Crosby, Evegni Malkin and Marian Hossa just as they did in Thursday's playoff deathbed of a 3-0 Game 4 victory at the Garden in order to survive tomorrow afternoon's Game 5 at the Igloo."

Steve Zipay at Newsday reports that the Rangers asked the league for a clarification on the Malkin penalty shot..." On Friday, after his team met to discuss strategy for another elimination game - Game 5 Sunday in Pittsburgh - Rangers coach Tom Renney said general manager Glen Sather contacted the league to clarify the awarding of the penalty shot."
