Looking Ahead

Lots of articles on what the Rangers will be doing in the off-season...

John Dellapina at the Daily News says Sather has some decisions to make..."GM Glen Sather, who has some delicate decisions to make over the next few weeks before he even can formulate a plan for this summer's free-agent market."

Sam Weinman at the Journal News says..."The emergence of that group, along with the continued brilliance of Lundqvist and the seasoned play of free-agent signings Drury and Scott Gomez, are all reasons to continue to be optimistic heading into next training camp. But before the Rangers reach that point, a number of important questions need to be answered."

Steve Zipay at Newsday talks about the Rangers salary cap situation..."The NHL's salary cap is expected to rise to between $55 million and $56 million next season, up from $50.2 million, and the Rangers should have plenty of space to maneuver - especially if the front office sheds most of their over-30 free agents, or signs one or two to reasonable short-term deals."

Lynn Zinser at the New York Times says the Rangers may pursue Marian Hossa..."If the Penguins do not have enough money to offer Hossa, who is making $7 million this season, the Rangers may be in the bidding for him. He is a strong two-way player and seems to be the kind of finisher the Rangers could use on a line with center Scott Gomez."
