Who Should Stay & Who Should Go

Stan Fischler at MSG.com has a series on which Ranger free agents should stay and which should go...

On Shanahan...

"...a 2008-09 Brendan would have to adjust to more limited duty on the ice, but his off-ice role -- as an aide to Renney -- could increase; perhaps as a playing-assistant coach.

Personally, I would love to see Shanahan back; but only if Jagr leaves!"

On Jagr...

"Bottom Line: Would the Rangers be better off with or without Jagr in the 2008-09 lineup? The Maven says they would be better off -- and that he WILL return!"

On Avery...

"There are the matters of money and years to be hammered out by Avery, his agent and the high command. Avery has made it abundantly clear that he loves The Big Apple, and the feeling, so far, has been mutual. But that love affair can fade fast if his demands are out of sight.

THE MAVEN PREDICTS: The Great Gabbo will return at a compromised salary."

...Fischler is confusing me. First he says he wants Shanahan to stay, then he says only if Jagr goes, but then he says he wants Jagr to stay. So does that mean he wants Shanahan to go?

...next up for Fischler is Rozsival.

No opinion on the other three, but I think they should resign Avery. Yeah, he's going to be the league's resident bad ass, but that is ok. Maybe he can get another "rule" next year.

Can I say, I miss the years of Messier and Richter?? can we bring them back?
