Rangers 2003 Draft Evaluation

With the 2003 NHL Entry Draft containing some of the finest prospects in recent memory, Leslie Treff at Hockey Futures evaluates how the Rangers drafted that year...

"The Rangers selected the most high-risk/high-reward player in the 50 highest ranked prospects that year — Hugh Jessiman, and made him the 12th overall pick. The Blueshirts are still waiting for the big winger to develop into an NHL-ready player, nevermind the star power forward he has the potential to become."

...other notable picks for the Rangers in that draft were Nigel Dawes and Ivan Baranka. So bottom line is that in a draft some considered the best in recent memory our scouts did an awful job. Nice.
