Rangers Talking to Jagr, Tell Shanahan to Wait

Contrary to other reports, John Dellapina at the Daily News says the Rangers have been talking with Jaromir Jagr's agent about bringing him back...

"Sather met again with agent Pat Brisson here in Ottawa Thursday. And after reassuring one another about the depth of their interest in keeping Jagr in a Rangers sweater, Sather and Brisson discussed the frameworks of two possible contracts."

...i've said this before, I'm happy whether they sign him or not. I think the Rangers will be headed in the right direction either way.

Dellapina on Shanahan's situation...

"Sather said he has told winger Brendan Shanahan to sit tight until the Rangers' payroll comes into clearer focus after the initial flurry of free-agent signings."

...hopefully Sather keeps him waiting until we can't sign him. You're a Hall of Famer Shanny, but sorry your time is over.

Larry Brooks at the New York Post has more on Jagr's contract negotiations here.
