Does Radulov's Defection Spell the End for Cherepanov?

Joe Correia at The Bleacher Report wonders how Nashville Predator Alexander Radulov signing a 3 year, 12 million dollar deal with Russian club Salavat Yulaev Ufa, despite having one year left on his contract with Nashville, will impact the Rangers' crowned jewel prospect Alexei Cherepanov...

"Although Cherepanov has expressed the desire on many accounts to play in the NHL, he is set to honor the last year on his contract with Avangard Omsk this upcoming season. This Radulov move has me very worried. It is evident that Radulov went back to his home country to not only play closer to home, but for a bigger payday as well. Who is to say that Cherepanov won't do the same thing, and take home a large check rather than go to the NHL?"

...i really don't care. The Rangers knew it was a gamble when they selected him. If he comes here great. If not oh well. It won't be the first time a #1 pick doesn't work out for the Rangers. Right Mr. Jessiman.

In related news the NHL and Russia’s Continental Hockey League reached an agreement that temporarily ends the threat of players being lured away by big-money offers. Looks like Radulov got his contract done before the agreement was reached. See story here.

Do the Rangers still have to open in the Czech Republic even thought they don't have Jagr and Staka? It seems pointless now. Does it count as a home or road game? One team has to be the home team to have the final change. If it is a home game does it mean that although my season ticket prices have gone up I will get 1 less game?

Where's NYRFAN I need some answers?

Bpette, the answers are yes they will still be playing in the Czech Republic, the Rangers are the home team and you will lose a home game despite the tix prices going up.
