Hollweg Wins "Biggest Waste of an NHL Roster Spot" Award

Greg Caggiano at The Bleacher Report gives his reasons why Ryan Hollweg wins his "Biggest Waste of an NHL Roster Spot" award...

"If he can't score, check or fight, why does he have an NHL roster spot?

I honestly can't tell you because it's something that myself and other Rangers fans have been trying to figure out for years. My explanation is, he must have pictures of Tom Renney and Glen Sather doing something dirty together."

...I couldn't agree with you more Greg. Bpette what do you think?

I'm done bashing Hollweg. He probably won't be with the team next year. And if he is, he won't be in the lineup. And if he is in the lineup than it's Renney's fault for playing him.

you've never met the guy. He's great to talk with, seen him three times now. He was hardworking and gave up his body each night. For some one his size he threw some of the best hits on the team. I'm not going to pretend he didn't take some bad penalties but he was no waste of space. You can't honestly say you went to a game and didn't cheer for him after he put up a good shift, or even as you watched him play in warmups. did we have to keep him no, but don't pretend he deserves to be bashed like this.

His bad penalties far out weighed any good he did on the ice. Sure he worked hard and he was comic relief in the lockeroom, but at the end of the day he was a mediocre hockey player who cost the Rangers more games than he won for them.
