Rangers Sign Naslund & Kalinin; Jagr Era Over

TSN is reporting...

"Markus Naslund is off the available list for free agents, as the Swedish winger has signed a 2-year contract with the New York Rangers worth $8 million....

...The Rangers also announced the signing of defencemen Dmitri Kalinin to a one-year contract."

Sam Weinman at The Rangers Report has this quote from Glen Sather regarding Jaromir Jagr...

“We decided we were going to move on,” Sather said. “Jagr was very respectful when I told him … We talked about his time here and he thanked me and I thanked him. It was a very cordial parting. You just can’t wait forever on these things.”

Weinman also writes that the Rangers have an offer on the table for defenseman Paul Mara and Sather is saying that Brendan Shanahan returning for a third year in New York is still a possibility.

...i guess Sather did have a plan all along. And to tell you the truth, I actually like it. Great job Glen.

...i'll make this short. Thank you Jaromir for helping turn this franchise around. While you didn't always give 100%, I appreciate what you did to bring the Rangers back to respectability. Good luck.

We'll have to wait and see how "Sather's" plan will play out. I'm excited but at the same time don't want to see these guys go (Jagr and Avery).

Hey NYRFAN do you still think he should be in the Rangers top 5 of all time?
