Around the Atlantic Division

All team reports from Yahoo! Sports...

New Jersey Devils - The nightly injury list (which already included Martin Brodeur, Paul Martin, Brian Rolston, Andy Greene, and Bobby Holik) increased as the Devils lost two more players Saturday night (Bryce Salvadore & Brian Gionta) and then had two get hurt Sunday, although both John Madden and Mike Mottau were able to keep playing. New Jersey dropped both games of the weekend back-to-back, scoring only two goals.

New York Islanders - The Islanders have already lost 79 man games to injury barely one month into the season. The injury bug could be considered the reason for the Islanders blowing third-period leads in four of their past five games, winning only twice over that stretch.

Philadelphia Flyers - In a deal that should clean up some shaky play on the Flyers’ blue line and could clear the way for signing Brendan Shanahan, the Flyers acquired 24-year-old defenseman Matt Carle from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday in exchange for defenseman Steve Eminger and right wing Steve Downie.

Pittsburgh Penguins - Sidney Crosby has had an apparent hip problem — per new NHL guidelines, the Penguins steadfastly refuse to divulge any meaningful information on injuries — since a 4-1 loss in Phoenix 11 days ago and was troubled by it enough Friday that he sat out practice, although he did play against the Islanders on Saturday, where he went scoreless with a -2.
