Sundin Still Being Linked to Rangers

Paul over at KuklasKorner asked a few media types where they thought Mats Sundin would end up and a number of them mentioned the Rangers. Including Jim Kelley of Sportsnet and Sports Illustrated who had this to say...

"My choice is the New York Rangers, creditable team, excellent goaltending, big city environment, easy travel, lots of endorsement opportunities, American dollars.

Rangers have a need for a veteran play-making center or centre and though it is New York, it still offers an opportunity to avoid the endless media obsession that he has endured in Toronto for years."

...hey Jim, the Rangers actually have no need for a center and plenty of veteran leadership. Plus no money to sign him. Do these media guys do any homework?

hi-i gotta say that i disagree that the rangers don't need a center. i guess you would consider gomer our no. 1, but our next three centers are basically third and fourth line centers, dru included, despite last night.

moving gomer to 2nd line, dru back to wing, and dubi centering line 3 and bettsie 4 would really solidify this team. where's the money coming from obviously is the question.

lines would be:
sundin, dru and naslund.
gomer, Z and cally.
dubi, voros and dawes/prucha/ fritsche.
betts, orr & sjostrom

on D would be mara, staal, kalinin, redden (ugh) girardi and potter.

i would use rozsival who would have a lot more trade potential without that ridiculous contract but still i bet has some, and pru and/or dawes and/or frische and rismiller to hopefully free up some money and then mats would have to sign here b/c he wants to win. 'cause he ain't gettin anywhere near what he's been offered by a certain western canadian team.
