Good article by Brooks...did I just really say that? Usually I hate his articles, but this one was actually good.

There are many possible ways to clear space for Mats. The obvious, most talked about ones are moving Prucha and demoting Korpikoski. But what about moving a defenseman not named Redden or Rozsival? I still think that Rozsival will be sporting new colors by next summer, but that is more related to the Rangers needing money for Zherdev and Dubinsky, and their plethora of young defensemen. I think Kalinin should be the odd man out. He's making 2.1 million and is a -16. Even if Corey Potter isn't completely ready, I think he could still do better than -16 in just 32 games. That, plus Potter makes pennies; he would only be around a 300K cap hit for the rest of the season. Moving Kalinin and Dawes would give us the cap space we would need to sign Sundin, while Korpikoski and Prucha battle for that final wing spot. I choose these two because when they play they are skating hard and hitting. Dawes is completely invisible out there.

If, later in the season, we realize the need for a D-man, we could trade for one, and get space by demoting Korpedo or trading Prucha then. We might even be able to convince San Jose to put McClaren through re-entry waivers, and would get him for cheap.
