Unusual Practice

Jane McManus at The Rangers Report reports from practice that John Tortorella split the team up with the players with the most playing time in the Tortorella era working out off ice with the head coach, while the others had a brief and intense workout with Assistant Coach Jim Schoenfeld including pyramids, pushups, and shooting drill after shooting drill.

At one point Schoenfeld had players getting down on the ice to check out angles from the puck’s point of view, and he even had Valiquette and substitute goalie Chad Killam from Mahattanville lie down in front of the net as the Rangers shot over them.

For more on today's practice visit Blue Notes and Ranger Rants.

...not sure making the players arms tired from push-ups is the best way to help them score, but I like the change of pace at practice because that's exactly what this team needs.

These guys are professional athletes. I think they can handle a few dozen pushups.
