Rangers 4, Islanders 2

The New York Rangers (33-24-8) defeated the New York Islanders (20-37-7) by the score of 4-2, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...got to love Torts. What an exciting game. Fast paced, hitting, scoring. Fun to watch. Not the type of game you'd see with Renney behind the Rangers bench.

...first off great to see Avery back in a Rangers uniform. Thought the Islanders were going out of their way to run him tonight. His legs seemed a little unstable, but I'm sure after a few NHL games under his belt he'll be back into game shape. The Rangers are now 51-23-13 with Avery in the line-up.

...Lundqvist was the difference tonight. The Islanders could have easily scored two quick ones in the first and this game could have gotten ugly quick, but Lundqvist came up big as usual.

...nice to see our scorers scoring. Drury, Gomez, Naslund and Zherdev have all scored in two straight games. By the way I think Naslund's last five goals have either gone off his body or deflected in off an opponent.

...Antropov is a giant out there. Thought he played as expected as he used his big body to get in front and crash the net, had some nice shots (including a post), but he was also invisible at times as well.

...Morris looked a little shaky, but you figure a defenseman will probably have a tougher time adjusting to a new defensive scheme.

...just in case you're counting the Rangers have now scored four power play goals in Tortorella's first four games after a 2 for 5 performance tonight. As if we needed any more proof that Perry Pearn had no idea what he was doing.

...despite the good vibes surrounding the Rangers, beating up on the worst two teams in the league doesn't have me ready to crown them Stanley Cup champions yet. But I'm hopeful that these two victories will give them some much needed confidence going into two games crucial games against Boston and Carolina.

Didnt think they played a very good game defensively tonight....Which you can do against the Islanders, but are not going to get away with againt playoff type teams....
I thought Antropov and morris wee mostly unnoticable while Avery seemed to be recognized on every shift with his skating and hitting...
As far as the offense goes the RAngers are getting alot of breaks/lucky bounces in these last 2 games...they sure were due, but once again lets see how they stack up against Boston Sunday afternoon at home...
Great game by Hank tonight, as usual. With a stong finish could be back in Vezina contention
