Rangers Contact Tampa About St. Louis

Damien Cox at the Toronto Star reports that multiple teams are calling Tampa Bay Lightning GM Brian Lawton about Martin St. Louis' availability including the Rangers.

Cox says the offensively challenged Rangers would benefit most by St. Louis' talents and they have significant assets, including Brampton winger Evgeny Grachev. St. Louis has a no trade clause in his contract.

Cox adds that Ranger's are up against the cap and that it will be difficult to get a player like St. Louis.

...not sure what Sather has up his sleeve here. Unless he has another trade in the works that would include Gomez, Drury, Rozsival or Redden there is no way this gets done. But Tortorella has been to war with St. Louis and could be pushing Sather to make this happen.

...also not sure I'd be willing to give up Grachev who looks like an absolute stud. Although, we all thought Pavel Brendl was going to be a stud to.
