ESPN: Why No Offense, Emotion and Sather on Hot Seat

Over at ESPN.com, Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun look at the Eastern Conference playoff race and wonder why the Rangers for the second year in a row cannot generate any offense.

They also discuss how sad it is that Avery brings more emotion than any other player on the team and that Ranger fans will be calling for Sather's head if the Blueshirts don't make the playoffs.

Spector at Fox Sports also takes a look at the Rangers struggles here.

...all these questions go away with a playoff berth. So let's go Blueshirts, show us what you're made of.

Do all the questions really go away with a playoff berth? I think the questions surrounding Sather's abyssmal signings will still linger.

His signings are a direct cause of the lack of scoring. He is signing the names, not the correct players. (If that doesn't make sense, I'll clarify)

A playoff berth will buy him a week or two. But this team is not going anywhere in the playoffs.

To me, the biggest question is why Sather signed the 3rd best defensemen available this past summer to a 6 year deal at around $6 mil a year, when the 2nd best defensemen went for 4 years and $5 mil.
