Even More Ovechkin Nonsense

Dan Steinberg at DC Sports Blog reports on Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom's MSG center ice celebration after last night's game...

"The hot topic in the media room tonight concerned the post-game celebration pulled off by Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. After the entire team had congratulated Simeon Varlamov and left the ice, the two stars skated toward the deserted center ice and leaped up into each other, NBA style. Then they skated off.

The crowd howled. Jeered. Cursed. Two beer battles crashed onto the ice."

Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy adds that Ovechkin even did a mock 'stick salute' to the crowd which the Rangers have popularized.

...while I think Ovechkin is great for the game and I love his enthusiasm, his off-ice actions this playoff have been puzzling. Act like you've been there man.
