Rangers 1, Capitals 0 (NYR 2-0)

The New York Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals by the score of 1-0 to take a 2-0 series lead in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yah00! Sports.

...now that's what you call a playoff game. Exciting, edge of your seat stuff. And of course a Rangers victory doesn't hurt.

...despite being badly out-shot in the first period I didn't feel that the Rangers were being dominated the way they were Wednesday night. I'm assuming they were playing a lot more relaxed today.

...amazing defensive game by the Rangers which included 29 blocked shots!!! 11 of them against Ovechkin and Mike Green. H/T to Puck Daddy for the stat.

...and when the defense broke down King Henrik was there. The Rangers needed Lundqvist to steal this series for them and right now he's doing it.

...The New York Rangers Blog team MVP Ryan Callahan continues to make big plays as he converts a perfect feed from Naslund.

...got to say I was shocked to see Boudreau go with Varlamov in goal today, but with the way the kid played we'll probably see him for the rest of the series. Which might be a good thing for the Rangers as goalies with much more playoff experience than the Russian rookie have been shaken by the Garden faithful.

...too many times I've seen teams take the first two road games only to give them right back in Games 3 & 4. So Tortorella needs to stay on these guys that the series is far from over.

...Game 3 is Monday night at MSG which should be rockin'.
