Rangers 3, Canadiens 1

The New York Rangers (41-30-9) defeated the Montreal Canadiens (41-29-10) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports.

...big players step up in big games, and Chris Drury has made a habit out of doing that his whole life. It hasn't happened much since he's become a Ranger, but tonight he was money.

...i thought the biggest plays tonight happened right before each goal. On Drury's first goal Callahan sets it up by stripping the defenseman of the puck, on Antropov's goal Avery sets it up by hustling to cause havoc behind the net, and finally on Drury's second goal Callahan again sets it up by fighting through a defender and using his skate to kick the puck ahead.

...speaking of Callahan, congrats on winning the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award. No player on the team deserved that honor more than him and he showed everyone why with his play tonight.

...so much for Antropov's knee injury. Got to love the all out effort he makes to score the game winner.

...another game, another series of muggings on Avery that go uncalled. Its a travesty what's going on out there. But to Avery's credit not one complaint just all out effort to help the Rangers win.

...big time help from the Flyers (2-1 win over Florida) tonight gives the Rangers an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot on home ice Thursday night. The Rangers win also gives them a solid chance of grabbing the seventh spot.

...one negative. With the Rangers going 0-for-3 on the power play tonight they are now 3 for their last 40. That's almost Perry Pearn like. If they're lucky enough to get into the playoffs they're not going to go very far without turning that around.

...was anyone else mesmerized by the new digital Subway ads on the glass? I found my staring at them more than the actual game. Dolan jacks up ticket prices and he still feels the need to sell advertising on every piece of the Garden. Geez.

...don't get too comfortable Ranger fans home and home against the Flyers won't be a walk in the park. It all starts on Thursday night at MSG.

Those Subway adverts were terrible and very distracting.

It was a very intense game but you'd never know it from the way those two to hammerheads "call" the game.

Wow, look at that...Drury.
