Tortorella Loses Cool, May Face Suspension

Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports on an incident between John Tortorella and Capitals fans during last night's game...

"Tortorella, who may have thought he had been doused by a beer or spat upon during a television timeout, wheeled toward the stands and threw a bottle over the high glass protecting the bench.

With his suit jacket wet, Tortorella then grabbed a stick out of the hands of Aaron Voros and appeared ready to joust with a spectator before he assistant coach Jim Schoenfeld grabbed him."

...Tortorella sits Avery for a lack of discipline and then goes out and does this? Talk about hypocritical.

...and what is up with the fans in DC? I also noticed after Game 1 fans throwing garbage at the Rangers. Disgusting.

I really hope he is not suspended. It is a silly thing that should be forgotten, but this league will probably blow it up.

Let's be honest, sir. Hockey fans are bastards regardless of town. But I'd rather be known as a town that's hard to play in for the PLAYERS because we heckle your coach or we are so loud you can't hear the horn at the end of the second period than known for chucking popcorn at women in wheelchairs.
