Gaborik Finally Participates!!!!

Update, 5:11 p.m.:
Gross has quotes from Jon Tortorella's press conference here.

Original Post:
Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants reports that after not participating in the first two days of camp with a sore groin, Marian Gaborik took part in his squad's practice (not scrimmage) this afternoon. While Gaborik took it somewhat easy in the drills he did skate very well in the conditioning laps.

On the soreness Gaborik said...

"It's a little tightness," Gaborik said. "The start of training camps are critical and a lot of times, the first couple of days it's tough skating. I don't want to push too hard, too quick."

On today's skate...

"It was a good skate," Gaborik said. "I have to progress into stop-and-start things gradually.

Gross adds that Gaborik, who admitted to a little frustration in the delay, is very unlikely to play either tomorrow night against the Bruins or Wednesday night against the Devils.

...i think the Rangers are being very smart with Gaborik, but it is a bit disconcerting that before the season even starts we're already worrying about this guy being injured.

Jim Cerny at Rink Rap has more from Day 3 here.

not to be a downer, but am I the only one that isn't head over heels for Torts? He's kind of crazy...I mean, how many coaches throw a water bottle at fans? Never heard of that. He sounds kind of mean, discouraging, and it's hard to play for a coach like that. I understand he wants to establish a precedent of responsibility and toughness, but I'm beginning the season in doubt...he can change my mind as the season goes on.
