Avery, Brashear Make Tough Guy Tracker

In their weekly Top 10 Tough Guy Tracker, Fox Sports spotlights Sean Avery and Donald Brashear among other tough guys...

9. Sean Avery
It didn't take New York Rangers' tough guy Sean Avery too long to make his presence felt. In his first game back from a preseason knee injury, Avery was his old pesky self in a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks Sunday night on Broadway. While Avery didn't drop the gloves or take a penalty, the annoying forward did get under the skin of a few of his opponents, while also managing to get his name on the score sheet. On one power play possession in the third period, Avery took a hard hit from Scott Niedermayer behind the Anaheim net just as he was dishing off a backhand pass to Vinny Prospal. With Avery down, Prospal then sent a quick pass to Artem Anisimov, who one-timed the feed passed Jean-Sebastien Giguere to put the Rangers up 2-0. After Anisimov lit the lamp, Niedermayer got an earful, but it wasn't from the goal-scoring horn at MSG.

...the Ducks game was Avery at his best.

7. Donald Brashear
Monday night was fight night in New York. NHL enforcers Donald Brashear and Colton Orr took part in a heavyweight bout in the Mecca of boxing, Madison Square Garden. With the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs down 2-0 after only eight minutes of play, Orr went right after Brashear after the Blueshirts' goon nailed him with a high, hard hit along the sideboards. Unfortunately it wasn't Toronto's night, as Orr lost the battle with Brashear and the Leafs lost the war 7-2.

...nice to see Brash getting some props. Hopefully, he'll start getting some from Ranger fans soon.
