More Messier GM Questions

Similar to Arthur Staple's story in Newsday yesterday, Michael Farber at SI.com wonders if Mark Messier is willing to do the grunt work required to become a successful GM....

"So if Messier can forget how much he is revered in the hockey world and embrace the grunt work, he could be a first-class executive. But if the Being Mark Messier thing seduces him, the Rangers would be making a mistake."

...what is with all the questioning of whether Messier is willing to do the neccessary work? The guy was one of the hardest working players in the league. I know he's been out of the NHL for awhile now, but you have to assume once he's around the team on a daily basis his competitive juices will start flowing again.

Messier on the importance of scouting...

"You can't spend your way out of mistakes now."

...i'm already more comfortable with Messier over Sather as GM with that quote.
