Kovalchuk May Play Tonight

NHL.com reports that Ilya Kovalchuk, who was expected to miss 3-5 weeks after breaking a bone in his right foot on Oct. 24, unexpectedly made the trip with the Thrashers to New York for tonight's game against the Rangers.

Kovalchuk presumably will test his foot at today's morning skate and perhaps in warm-ups before the game.

...not sure how effective Kovalchuk will be if he plays, but Atlanta will be that much tougher to beat with him in the line-up.
