Nylander Anyone?

Some interesting news with the Rangers need for center icemen. According to Tarik El-Bashir at Capitals Insider, the Capitals placed former Ranger Michael Nylander on waivers Saturday.

Nylander, who makes $4.875 per, will clear waivers at noon today if no team claims him.

Nylander had fallen out of favor in Washington after scoring just 19 goals in two plus years since signing with the Caps.

...i was a big fan of Nylander when he was with the Rangers and I thought they made a huge mistake going after Gomez and Drury instead of re-signing him.

...if the Rangers are interested, hopefully they can pull off what they did last year to get Avery. Arrange a deal with the Caps to assign him to the Wolf Pack then claim him on recall waivers. Meaning the Rangers would only have to pay half his salary.

We still can't afford half his salary. He's old, hasn't played in (effectively) two seasons, and is too slow to play in Torts' system. No thanks.
