Rangers Shopping Higgins?

Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun reports that the Rangers are shopping Chris Higgins...

"The Rangers are trying to move W Christopher Higgins. Talk about a flop on Broadway. Higgins, who has just two assists in 13 games this season, was the key player New York got back from the Canadiens for C Scott Gomez."

...Garrioch's rumors are known to be Eklund-like, so I'm not going to put too much stock into this.

...however, if true, that would be the shortest leash ever.

I'm not quite sure why everyone is sweating Higgins so much. What was his role in Montreal? The way the announcers talk about Higgens lack of offense it'd seem like he was expected to score 35 goals.

I think everyone expected more than zero at this point. Rightly so.

I agree, no matter what Higgins' true potential is, he should be putting up more than what he has. However, while it doesn't surprise me that this talk is starting, I think once Higgins pots his first goal, they'll come in bunches. The question is, how long are the rangers going to put up with his inconsistency? Not long, especially considering there are Rooks in the minors that are prepared to take his spot...
