Rangers Refuse to Release Grachev for World Juniors

Beyond the Blueshirts reports that the Rangers have refused to release Evgeny Grachev to play for Team Russia in this winter’s World Junior Championship tournament. The tournament opens in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan on December 26th.

The Russians are appealing the decision through the IIHF and have included the 19-year old forward on their preliminary roster for the tournament, which was released today.

...with Grachev's apparent struggles in Hartford, might be a good thing to let him go and gain some confidence as mentioned by BTB.

Speaking of World Junior Championships, according to newyorkrangers.com, Rangers prospects Ryan Bourque, Chris Kreider and Derek Stepan were selected to USA Hockey’s preliminary roster for the 2010 U.S. National Junior Team.
