Red Wings 3, Rangers 1

The New York Rangers (14-14-1) lost to the Detroit Red Wings (14-10-5) by the score of 3-1, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...missed opportunities was the theme for the Rangers tonight. Missed breakaways, wide open nets and a penalty shot. Got to bury those chances if you want to beat a team like Detroit.

...Lundqvist's great play these last two games was pretty much nullified with that final goal. He needs to make that save. Period.

...if Higgins finished a fraction of his scoring chances he'd have at least 10 goals.

...Anisimov isn't going to make it to the end of the season if he keeps taking hits like that.

...what happened to that unstoppable power play the Rangers had earlier this season?

...i didn't know Detroit re-signed Dominick Hasek this off-season.

...despite the missed open net, I'm loving Avery's game right now. He's in everyone's face and agitating the opponents top players. Zetterberg looked like he wanted to kill the 'Grate One' tonight.

...what does a goal get you on a John Tortorella team? 4:44 of ice time for Boyle.

...Heikkinen must be exhausted after all the ice time he got this weekend.

...i'm loving the defensive turn around these last two games, but the Blueshirts desperately need to find some offense especially with their next game in Chicago on Wednesday.

That call against Staal for roughing was INSANE. Talk about the pussification and the "new NHL." Anyone when guys planted in front of the net were HAMMERED?

Todd Burtuzzi. Dude should be in jail.

I totally forgot to write about that. Awful call.

Granted Hank should have had that last goal but up until then he was great. If Kotalik and Avery could put the puck in the ocean that goal would have been no big deal. You don't win many games scoring one goal.
