Redden, Kotalik Scratched, Lundqvist 8th Straight Start Tonight vs. Isles

Larry Brooks of the New York Post, via Twitter, reports that Wade Redden and Ales Kotalik will be healthy scratches tonight vs. the Islanders.

While Andrew Gross of Ranger Rants, also via Twitter, notes that Henrik Lundqvist will get his eighth straight start tonight.

...not exactly the ground breaking changes I was looking for.

Until Redden & Rozival (more importantly their salaries)are moved this team is doomed. Maybe Drury too, I would say pick one of the three to keep. If Torts is going to stick around he needs a younger core, veterans grow tired of that style of coaching. The Dolans have enough money, so bite the bullet & lose these ridiculous contracts, build up the young defensive core, and move on next year. It hurts, but it is the only way.

The problem is not just to lose these guys. It is to get rid of them and their cap killing contracts. It does no good just to cut them while the cap hits continue.

I'm with you guys. A kick in the ass move would have been releasing Redden not benching him. And if Torts just wanted to bench someone, send a real message by sitting Drury.
