Ryan Kennedy at The Hockey News names Rangers prospect and World Junior Championship gold medalist Derek Stepan to this week's "Hot List,"5. Derek Stepan, C – University of Wisconsin Badgers (WCHA): Stepan’s play alongside Jerry D’Amigo at the world juniors was exceptional and the Team USA captain’s 14 points in seven games led the tourney. Back in Madison, the speedy Stepan is progressing nicely with 22 points through 18 games. Drafted 51st overall by the New York Rangers in 2008.
...Brooks reported this weekend that the Rangers don't think Stepan will be ready for the NHL (or the AHL for that matter) next year. But be assured this won't be the last we've heard from the Team USA captain.
