Rangers Call Up Parenteau & Eriksson

Newyorkrangers.com reports that forward P.A. Parenteau and defenseman Anders Eriksson have been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Parenteau has 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points, along with 63 penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating in 35 games with Hartford this season.

Eriksson, 35, has registered three assists in eight games with Hartford since being acquired by the Rangers on March 3 from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for goaltender Miika Wiikman and a seventh round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

...assuming this is insurance if Callahan can't go tomorrow in Toronto.

Andrew Gross at Ranger Rants says Eriksson may have been called up because Torts is losing faith in Gilroy's defensive ability.

But he hasn't lost faith in Redden's defensive ability?

Is one more sub/line combo really worth it at this point?

Having a young but potentially very decent defenseman (Gilroy) pair with Redden on D is just...wow...awful. Redden is really bad...and Gilroy isn't learning much playing with him.

P.A. ...bring 'em up!
