Rangers to Use 'New York' Jerseys?

Chris over at Icethetics takes look at new uniforms being prepped for the 2010-11 season including this third jersey for the Rangers...

"Reebok doesn't specify, however, Rangers blogger Greg Caggiano recently claimed to have the inside track on the new thirds. He says he's been told they'll be nearly identical to the current home jersey with NEW YORK replacing RANGERS across the front...The Rangers previously wore a blue jersey with NEW YORK on the front from 1978 to 1987. The team's home and road sweaters will not change next season."

...the Statue of Liberty jersey was wildly popular, but if this report is true I'd be happy to see the Rangers paying tribute to a part of their history by bringing this look back.

...to tell you the truth I would love the Rangers to use the 1970s throwback jersey they brought back during the first year Jagr came on board. (see below)

...h/t to Puck Daddy.

I actually have one of those, a Lundqvist one that he signed. I'd love for them to be the 3rd jerseys.

I really want a kickass third jersey for the rangers. But it's nearly impossible to design around "Rangers."

The liberty jersey was meh. The New York sash design would be sweet, as would the ’70s throwback jersey.
