Rangers 5, Lightning 0

The New York Rangers (35-32-10) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (31-34-12) by the score of 5-0, tonight. For a recap and box score go to Yahoo! Sports and newyorkrangers.com.

...dare I say it's fun being a Ranger fan again. Nine out of a possible 10 points and complete domination of a dangerous Tampa team.

...this is strange to say but I feel this team thrives on adversity. When their leading scorer Gaborik went down after the Olympic break the Rangers played some of their best hockey and now with two key components (Callahan and Avery) out with injuries they are again thriving. Great to see players stepping up.

...speaking of stepping up, Lundqvist is making it real easy to forget about the tough game he had in Toronto with his second shutout in five games. Going to be hard to sit him tomorrow, but I think Auld's got to get the start.

...i really expected absolutely nothing from Shelley when the Rangers picked him up, but he's surprised me with much more ability than I ever thought he had.

...nice to see Voros get one at the end. He deserves it.

...it's official, Prust is the best player the Rangers acquired in the Kotalik deal.

...great night for Staal. Second goal in two games and he keeps Stamkos off the score sheet.

...Montreal takes out the struggling Flyers (1-6-1 in their last eight) 1-0 ,tonight. This means the Rangers are just two points behind the eighth place Flyers and have a game in hand.

...right back at it tomorrow night against the Panthers.
