Sather Tried to Convince Kreider to Turn Pro

Jim Cerny of newyorkrangers.com tweets...

Tidbits from #NYR GM Glen Sather tonight: 1) he tried to convince Chris Kreider to turn pro, but CK wanted return to BC for 1 more year...less than a minute ago via web

...glad to see him go back. From all reports I've read he needed another year at BC. Very rare to see a highly touted prospect in any sport turn down a shot at the pros and the money that comes with it to go back to college to make himself better. Good for him.

another year is gonna do him really good. look at mcdonough and stepan a couple years in college did them very good, let them mature physically and mentally.

if the rooks come up too quickly the clock starts earlier on their pro careers so rfa and ufa come about that much quicker. so let him stay in school. he'll be a soph for God's sake

Totally agree LI Joe , the kid is only a sophomore. There is plenty of growing up to do and now is the time to do that. Let him go pro in his Jr. year with a yr in Hartford.

This is surprising. I remember Kreider was the youngest kid drafted last year, at least in the first round. Nice to hear Sather is confident in him but definitely glad he chose to stay. Experience never hurt anyone.
